Rightworks Firm Premier is a technology offering platform designed to provide secure, scalable computing power as a utility to accounting firms and other professional organizations.
The platform is designed to eliminate the need for on-premises servers, storage devices, and backup technologies by providing these services in an online Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution.
One advantage to using the Firm Premier platform is that the workstation lifespan can be significantly increased, reducing the frequency of desktop and laptop computer replacement. However, we do generally recommend that the operating systems be upgraded to keep with the most current stable version available.
To ensure the best possible experience while using Firm Premier, these guidelines should be followed.

The following operating systems have been verified for compatibility with Firm Premier:
Rightworks will not support any workstations which use registry workarounds to install Windows 11 on unsupported hardware. |
Windows® 10 or 11 (Home, Pro, and Enterprise Editions)
On October 14th, 2025, Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10. On this date, Windows 10 machines will stop receiving security and feature updates, making these devices significantly less secure. Because of this, Rightworks will no longer be supporting Windows 10 Devices after October 14th, 2025. Please Review your computer inventory to establish a plan to either upgrade to Windows 11 or replace the machine if it does not meet Windows 11 system requirements.

Apple Mac OS
If the operating system is not listed above then Rightworks does not provide support.
Minimum:
Recommended: Any of the above brands with Octo (8) cores or more.
Impact:
The processor is a fundamental component that dictates the overall performance, efficiency, and capability of a computer system.
Windows: Lower end CPUs may work, but will show large performance issues during normal tasks. Such lower end CPU makes may include: Celeron, Phenom, Core2, Pentium
Intel offers a newer processor called the Ultra 7 that they've acknowledged to have performance issues with Citrix. To correct this, you'll need to install the following driver on all workstations with the Ultra 7 processor: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000097751/graphics.html Intel is releasing an Ultra 9 processor soon and we will be looking to see if Intel has addressed the issue with the Ultra 7 processor in the Ultra 9 release. |
Minimum: 16 GB
Recommended: 32 GB
Impact:
Having more RAM helps ensure your machine's performance does not take a hit for updating to the latest operating system or other software changes.
Some employees may need to use applications that run on their local workstation. Having the extra RAM will prepare you for any requirements of said software(s).
Windows based machines with less than 16 GB of ram (8GB, 12GB) will be able to run Rightworks Premier applications, but will show lower performance due to memory limitations. This is exacerbated while simultaneously using other local workstation applications such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and more.
Minimum: 256 GB Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
Recommended: 256 GB Solid-State Drive (SSD)
Impact:
The technology of SSD stores data differently than your normal HDD, hard disk drive, in that is has no moving parts.
This allows for faster performance as well as reducing the likelihood of damage. Because of this, we highly recommend updating any existing HDD's to an SSD.
“I don’t maintain a list, but we see Dell, HP, Lenovo and Microsoft Surface being the primary brands, with a weighting of laptops over desktops as the individual’s only machine. Since the life of laptops is increasing to 4 years, we recommend specifications anticipated through the end of that life which would be i7, 32Gb RAM, 256Gb SSD and next-generation that has a copilot keyboard (and internal NPU-neural processing unit). While these NPUs are minimally used now, we anticipate they will see increased usage between 2026 and 2028. One might argue that since everything is in the cloud that an i5, AMD, or Qualcomm chip with 16Gb of RAM is more than adequate, I believe the local running of the OS (Windows 12), AV and other requirements will only increase so I’d rather spend a little extra now" (Roman). |
A high-speed Internet connection is required while using the secure cloud. In order to achieve optimal performance metrics for your firm’s secure cloud connection, a high quality, high speed, low latency connection is crucial. |
When connecting to secure cloud we recommend that the computer be protected from virus and key-logging software by using adequate and up-to-date client-security software.
Wireless networks should use WPA-2 or better Wi-Fi encryption, although a wired connection is the preferred method to connect.
We recommend you confirm you use only Citrix-compatible Printers to ensure they will work with secure cloud applications.
A monitor with a minimum resolution of 1280 x 1024 or higher is required.
We recommend dual 20″ or larger monitors with a resolution of at least 1600 x 900.
A TWAIN-compliant scanner is necessary if you want to scan hardcopy documents directly into most secure cloud applications.
Most scanners available today are compatible with the secure cloud, however your specific model should be verified prior to use.
The type of scanner required should be determined by your own business practices and uses.
